Kids Cooking Lessons

Junior Chef (aged 4 - 14 & 8 - 16) 4 hats cooking lessons will set your kids up for life!

This Junior Chefs cooking program has been carefully constructed to build childrens confidence in the kitchen, build their knife and general kitchen skills, and help them gain one of  life's most important skills, cooking healthy nutritious food from scratch for them self's and others!

  • Your kids will learn to shop and cook with a professional chef
  • Your kids will develop a broad understanding of cooking healthy food
  • Your kids will develop their confidence and ability to interact with others (much more than a cooking class)
  • They will learn how to select great healthy and nutritious produce
  • They will leave home with fantastic junior chef’s skills if you help us help them

Imagine the meals your child will be able to cook for you! 

  • Junior chef cooking classes are for kids - aged 8 - 16 and run 9.30 - 11.30 am,every Saturday in school terms 
  • No term booking required in 2018
  • $27 per class for your little chefs aged 4 - 14 - inclusive of ingredients, shopping and the meal (these classes run Sat morning 9,30 am - 11.30 am saturdays and 3.30 pm - 5.30 pm Monday to Friday)
  • $37 per class for your little chefs aged 8 - 16 - inclusive of ingredients, shopping and the meal (these classes run Sat 12 noon - 2 pm and 2.30 pm - 4.30 pm and 3.30 pm - 5.30 pm Monday to Friday)
  • Term bookings are essential (from term 1 in 2019) - be quick mums, limited to 20 spaces per class per location 
  • There are no rain checks for missed lessons, however the recipes will be provided for catchup at home

The 4 hat Junior chef cooking program takes kids through shopping, preparing and cooking healthy nutritious food from scratch!, step by step and the kids will receive a recipe for each class to go into their Journal (sold seperatly) to carry with them through life.

Beginners - Red - 1st Hat (must complete one term)

  • Cooking easy and quick recipes that require minimal skills
  • Shopping to select fresh, healthy and nutritious foods
  • Chopping and knife handling skills
  • Kitchen equipment care
  • Food safety and hygiene
  • Each term will cover all five Homefresh cuisines
  • Relax and enjoy your food creation

Learners - Blue - 2nd Hat (must complete one term)

  • Cooking additional recipes that require a little less supervision
  • Stocking your pantry and focusing on the importance of being prepared
  • Stocking your fridge with seasonal produce to gain the maximum nutritional value
  • Stocking your freezer to ensure you are always prepared, to cook from scratch
  • Chopping and knife handling skills
  • Each term will cover all five Homefresh cuisines
  • Relax and enjoy your food creation

Intermediate - Black - 3rd Hat (must complete one term)

  • Cooking additional recipes that require your taste buds influence
  • Identify various herbs and spices and how they make up different cuisines
  • Identify various fruit and vegetables and explore making food and drinks
  • Shopping for seasonal vegetables to save money and time
  • Chopping and knife handling skills
  • Each term will cover all five Homefresh cuisines
  • Relax and enjoy your food creation

Advanced - White - 4th Hat (must complete one term)

  • Cook advanced recipes that focus on pan, oven temperature and setting selections
  • Learning various baking techniques
  • Learn the art of various frying styles
  • Leaning to cook exquisite variations of core signature dishes 
  • Chopping and knife handling skills
  • Each term will cover all five Homefresh cuisines
  • Relax and enjoy your food creation

On completion of each terms 4 hat Junior chef tuition

  • Junior chefs will select and cook their choosen entre, main and desset 
  • Chef will assess and rate each dish based on complecity, presentation and taste 
  • When the junior chef reaches the appropriate skill level, they will be presented with their very first coloured chef’s hat (red)
  • On completion of each term the Junior chefs will be presents with their Blue, Black and White bages to add to thier red hat
  • Returning junior chefs will recieve more advanced tuition each year over 4 years and matching badges awarded 
  • Junior chefs that commplet a 4 year block with be awarded a White Homefresh Master chef hat, chefs knives and a selection of chef tools and be demed an avanced Homefresh Junior chef.

What next?

Junior chefs showing a natural tallent for cooking and a natural flair for being in front of camareras, presenting at chef events and presentations will be invited to participate in new Homefresh productions planned
